Abstract

In the Hispano-American city the Plaza de Armas has from its foundation en important roll, therefore it receives special attention from the successive governments and of their inhabitants. At the moment, the Plaza de Armas of Arequipa is the center of the Monumental Zone, in a city that has 800 thousand inhabitants and who are World-wide Patrimony of the Humanity. In the present investigation one analyzes the dynamics and uses of the Plaza de Armas on the basis of the direct observations and the surveys to the inhabitants of the city, made in April of the 2005. The position of the Plaza de Armas in the city and its history is examined; soon, the uses of the ground, the reasons by which the people are in the Plaza de Armas and analyze the appreciation that the inhabitants have of the Plaza de Armas. In the end, one concludes with a model of present use of the Plaza de Armas.
